2025 LST AT MISANO PRE RACE REPORT

After an impressive season to date, the Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo team departs for Misano, Italy, to finish the North America Championship and to compete in the World Finals. The weekend in Misano consists of wrapping up the North American competition then a doubleheader on the global stage for the World Finals. In the North America Championship, all three of Wayne Taylor Racing’s entries are in the battle for their respective championships (PRO and AM) as well as the Team and Dealership Championships up for grabs.

In their first season as a driver pairing, Danny Formal and Hampus Ericsson enter Misano leading the PRO standings by 16 points in the No 101 WTR Lamborghini ST. Thus far in 2025, Formal and Ericsson have six wins and are seeking two more to clinch the North American title at Misano. Formal’s last time at the Italian circuit was in 2021 with Wayne Taylor Racing. This will mark Ericsson’s first time competing at Misano, but not his first World Finals – the Swedish driver earned World Finals Vice Champion honors in 2024.

Nick Persing heads to Misano for the first time in his career and is ready to tackle his third World Finals weekend. Persing and his No. 108 Lamborghini ST are still within sights of the PRO Championship with the opportunity to bring the WTR team a 1-2 finish in the standings. At the 2024 World Finals, Persing collected two podiums in the competitive class and will be searching for the next step up come Misano.

AM Championship leaders, Glenn McGee and Graham Doyle are eager to rebound after a tough weekend in Indianapolis as they arrive in Italy. The pair has led the championship standings all year and is four points ahead entering the final two rounds. The World Finals has proven successful for Doyle and McGee, each capturing wins at previous rounds in their careers. As the pairing enter the World Finals competition, they will be promoted into the PRO|AM category in the No. 110 DEX Lamborghini ST for those two rounds. While Doyle hasn’t driven at Misano before, the pair can rely on McGee GT3 experience to bring home the hardware in Italy.

The World Finals weekend at Misano is divided into two parts for the Wayne Taylor Racing stable, the North American Championship doubleheader first on November 6-7, 2025, then the World Finals doubleheader on November 8-9, 2025. The first race of the North American rounds is set for 6:25 a.m. EST (12:25 p.m. GMT+1) on Thursday followed up by the finale for the LSTNA Championship at 3:15 a.m. EST (9:15 a.m. GMT+1) on Friday. With all competitors across Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, Europe and Asia, the World Finals action is set for 10:20 a.m. EST (4:20 p.m. GMT+1) on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. EST (2:30 p.m. GMT+1) on Sunday for the PRO and PRO|AM classes. All four 50-minute races from Misano will be broadcast live from the Lamborghini Squadra Corse YouTube channel.

Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo Driver Quotes

Danny Formal, Co-Driver, No. 101 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Super Trofeo (PRO)

“Looking to get back to the World Finals at Misano. I have not been back since 2021. I’m super excited to get going. We are leading the PRO championship by 16 points at the moment and for sure, we are going try to bring another championship to Wayne Taylor Racing. This will be my third championship in four years, so super excited to get going. Misano is a great racetrack. I think we have a fantastic set up with the race car right now. The team has been working overtime since the last race at Indy, getting these cars ready. The World Finals is always very, very, very competitive, especially when they are held in Italy as these guys all know the tracks very well. We are looking forward to the challenge. Hopefully, we could do well and bring another world championship to Wayne Taylor Racing. The last one they got in the PRO class was back in 2017.  I know the guys and girls at WTR really want this one and Hampus and I are super excited to get going and do as well as we can.”

Hampus Ericsson, Co-Driver, No. 101 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Super Trofeo (PRO)

“We are definitely focusing on the championship with two races left. Considering our momentum and pace recently, we just need to stay focused and execute the same way we’ve been doing lately. We need to think less about the championship and more about keeping our heads cool and forward will be key for sure. My expectations for the World Finals are high. Last year was my first time and I managed a good result but not good enough (second). So, I’m definitely looking forward to some redemption. I feel like all the girls and boys at WTR deserve the title after this year where everyone’s been working nonstop for me and Danny to have the best chance possible to do great results.

I have not been to Misano, but my preparation are the same as usual: decent amount of time in the simulator, working hard in the gym and stay ready in the mind for what’s to come. It’s been my go-to the whole year and I’ll keep that for the finale. I’m super excited to get going, it’s going to be tough, but I don’t expect anything else, this is the most important weekend of the year for me, so let’s do the best weekend of the year as well!”

Nick Persing, Driver, No. 108 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo (PRO)

“Heading into the final rounds of the North American series and the World Finals, I’m focused on fighting for second in the championship and helping bring home a Wayne Taylor Racing 1-2 finish. I’m also excited to compete at Misano and push for a podium in the World Finals. I’ve never driven there before, but I’ve been putting in sim time and studying past races to prepare. It looks like a technical, fast circuit. I’m looking forward to the challenge and hopefully ending the season strong for the team.”

Graham Doyle, Co-Driver, No. 110 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Super Trofeo (AM- ROUND 6, PRO|AM-WORLD FINALS)

“As we head into the final rounds of the North America championship, my focus is on finishing the season strong and holding onto our lead in the championship. Every race this year has been its own challenge and Misano is no different. It brings its own differences and challenges with it being a technical circuit that really rewards precision and rhythm. The goal Glenn and I have set is to stay consistent, maximize every session, and hopefully bring home a strong result to close out the season and the championship.”

Glenn McGee, Co-Driver, No. 110 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Super Trofeo (AM- ROUND 6, PRO|AM – WORLD FINALS)

“Leading the Championship by a slim four points, Graham and I will be looking to control the championship to the end.  Our pace and the team’s performance have been stellar this year.  We've seen that WTR has given us every resource to take control from the front of the field; Graham and I just have to execute, and mitigate any potential downsides, and we should be well placed to take the championship. I’m super excited, and love the ultra-competitive nature of Worlds, of taking on so many great drivers, and the dedication and focus required to beat them. Making both gaming and racing history as both as a professional eSports World Champion, in iRacing and as a real-life Super Trofeo World Champion in 2023, I am certainly familiar with the pressure and what's being asked of us drivers. I love the challenge! There will be some strategy to avoid major contact and make sure you are in the top five, but its 100% everything you have, full attack mode from there, and you either win it or you don't.

Last year I was fortunate enough to drive for F1 driver, Kimi Antonelli; where I was eventually crowned the 2024 Italian GT3 Champion.  My first GT3 win came at Misano, so it’s a special place for me, and it is Kimi's home track, so he had some really great tips & tricks that I plan to implement in the Lamborghini. The track is quite tight in most places, with a very fast back sector, and requires heavy use of curbs, so the car setup will be difficult.  It also requires a huge degree of precision & discipline from us drivers and invites mistakes, so passing will be very possible here. “
