2025 SEBRING LST PRE RACE REPORT

The Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo team head to Sebring International Raceway to officially begin the 2025 LST North America Championship. WTR enters the 2025 season as the reigning LST Team Champions along with support from Dealership Champions, Lamborghini Palm Beach. The team’s stout four-car effort consists of two PRO entries, one PRO|AM and one AM entry as WTR looks to build on their decade of Lamborghini Super Trofeo success since 2015.

At the wheel of the No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO is Danny Formal and Hampus Ericsson. Ericsson will enter his rookie debut in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America grid while also racing in America for the first time in his career. Formal will handle “double duty” as he pilots the No. 1 PRO along with the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD in the Twelve Hours of Sebring. Although the pairing of Formal and Ericsson is fresh for 2025, the two each share success within Lamborghini Super Trofeo as Formal is a two-time PRO Drivers Champion in LSTNA and Ericsson holds the 2024 World Finals Vice-Champion honors.

Nick Persing returns to Wayne Taylor Racing, moving upward into the PRO category, after successfully competing in the PRO|AM class. In 2024, Persing landed on the podium in the season’s first round of competition at Sebring International Raceway. Following a pre-season test last month, Persing is ready to contend for the podium in the driver’s seat of his No. 8 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo as a solo PRO driver.

For the No. 69 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo, the driver lineup looks a bit different for the 2025 LST season as Anthony McIntosh and Brendon Leitch team up for a full season effort. At the 2024 World Finals, the duo competed in the PRO|AM class and swept the category to earn World Champion accolades. As McIntosh is the back-to-back AM Champion, 2025 will mark Leitch’s first full-time season of competition in the LST North America field.

Completing the lineup for WTR is Graham Doyle and Glenn McGee in the No. 10 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo, pairing up for first time in the AM class. McGee, who earned his second consecutive AM Championship with WTR teammate McIntosh, seeks a third championship while Doyle is poised to build on his experience in AM entering 2025. For Doyle and McGee, the duo come from similar racing backgrounds as they each utilize simulator experience to gain knowledge ahead of each event. Like his teammate Formal, Doyle will also balance on-track action this weekend as the endurance co-driver for the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD for the historic Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo stable will begin on track preparations with practice sessions on Wednesday, March 12 and two qualifying sessions for the doubleheader on Thursday, March 13. The first round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America will go green at 5:55 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 13, and the second round is set for 5:05 p.m. ET on Friday, March 14. Action for both races will be broadcast on Peacock TV.

Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo Driver Quotes

Danny Formal, No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “We had our first two-day test as a team with the new drivers and it went better than perfect. The No. 1 car was top of the charts in all four sessions. Hampus was a rockstar and picked up the racetrack extremely quickly. I’m super proud of him and the Wayne Taylor Racing team. I’m really excited for this season and the team atmosphere that we have going. Ready to go for another record-breaking season with Wayne Taylor Racing.”

Hampus Ericsson,No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “After a very successful first test with the team, I’m very eager to get the season started with WTR. As I haven’t done any racing at all in the U.S, every lap counts. And we had a great test, and my first impression of the team was mega. My expectations for the season opener are high, both on me, the team and to get the season started. As I mentioned, we had a successful test, so we plan to build on that momentum into the race weekend and dig even deeper and hopefully return with some hardware!”

Nick Persing, No. 8 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “Testing at Sebring was super helpful for getting the setup dialed in before the season opener. Sebring is an extremely unique track, so it has a very unique setup to be quick. It’s also a super-fast track, so it’s awesome to drive in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo because you can really unleash the full potential of the car. I’m really looking forward to the first round since it’s my first race in the PRO category, and my hope is to claim some podiums!”

Brendon Leitch, No. 69 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO|AM: “The test was great for both Tony and I. We were able to iron out a few teething problems and get some good running under our belt before Round 1. Sebring is a very unique track, being so slippery and bumpy it’s fun and unique also! I think the goal for us is to continue where we left off last season in Europe and win as many races as possible.”

Graham Doyle, No. 10 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo AM: “Looking back to our recent test and ahead to our races at Sebring, I feel like the test was extremely valuable for both getting myself and the team dialed in and back into the Super Trofeo swing of things. Coming off the test, I feel confident in our setup and approach for the weekend. Working with Glenn, I feel like I’ve got the teammate and the team support in WTR to fight for wins and the Championship this season. Sebring can’t come soon enough!”

Glenn McGee, No. 10 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo AM: "Sebring is always a tough race in the Lamborghini. All the drivers will have to remain extra-disciplined once the tire wears out during our stints. There are lots of unknowns going into 2025, but my teammate, Graham, and I have been working really hard in the off season, and I think we will surprise a lot of people, including perhaps ourselves. I think the most significant thing for me though, coming into Sebring, is that I've found a home at WTR and want to continue to strengthen that relationship. Coming from virtual-to-reality, it's such a blessing being here. I get to develop with the same WTR crew, work alongside Graham Doyle as he continues to get quicker and quicker and continue to joke about and enjoy racing with my friend, Anthony McIntosh. Most importantly, I get to improve my own driving significantly, working alongside some of the best, driver talent in the world: Danny Formal, Brendon Leitch and Hampus Ericsson."
