A weekend full of trophies for the Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo team at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The WTR team completed the final rounds of competition in the U.S. before they depart for Italy to compete at the World Finals. Two 1-2 overall finishes highlighted the weekend with all three classes also sweeping pole positions.

In the charge for the competitive PRO class championship, Danny Formal and Hampus Ericsson began their weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by sweeping pole positions. Starting off Race 1, Formal maintained control of the lead through the mandatory pit stop. A driver change to Ericsson and it was smooth sailing through the checkered flag from there. Formal and Ericsson’s victory on Friday afternoon was a first-time victory for both drivers around IMS. As the field came to the green on Saturday for Race 2, an incident on track led to a full course caution. Ericsson retained his lead once the field went back green after the halfway mark. Formal took over as soon as the required pit window opened and maintained track position to earn the No. 1 PRO car’s sixth win of 2025. The perfect weekend sweep for Formal and Ericsson put the pair back into the PRO championship lead.

Nick Persing and Giano Taurino tackled the Indianapolis doubleheader as a first-time pairing and the stride together was found quickly. Both drivers impressively qualified within the top four for both races. In Race 1, Persing challenged within the lead group of PRO competitors before handing off the control to his co-driver. Taurino, in his first time racing at the wheel of the No. 8 LST Huracán, drove an impressive stint that earned the team third on the podium. After a successful Race 1 together, Persing and Taurino were hopeful for more entering the second race of the doubleheader. With much of the race ran under yellow, the No. 8 team knew they had limited time to gain positions on track before the checkered flag. As other PRO competitors were assigned post-race penalties, the Persing and Taurino were promoted into third on the podium, rounding out a successful weekend.

Back together again, Trent Hindman and Jackson Lee handled the No. 69 PRO|AM entry for the weekend at IMS. Stellar qualifying performances saw the duo collect the class pole positions. On the front row with their No. 1 PRO teammates, Hindman slotted into prime position before Lee took over to finish the 50-minute first race. Lee was able to cruise to victory in PRO|AM in front of his hometown crowd. Ready to capitalize on their Race 1 success, the No. 69 duo was eager to get that sweep of a weekend entering Race 2. Once the field returned to green flag racing after the full course caution near the beginning of the race, Lee had the No. 69 in a strategic position before handing it over to Hindman. Hindman knew the speed they had after Race 1 and impressively drove to victory once again. In their four starts together, Hindman and Lee have three wins and two second-place overall results.

AM class leaders, Graham Doyle and Glenn McGee, entered the doubleheader in Indianapolis with expectations to continue their championship momentum. The pairing grabbed both P1 starting positions for their class, even grabbing pole for Race 1 on flyer lap at the end of the first qualifying session. Friday’s Race 1 had a promising outlook until misfortune on the opening lap resulted in damage and an incident responsibility penalty. Unfortunately, their day ended early for Race 1 due to the sustained damage. Looking to rebound from a tough Race 1 and a 10-place grid penalty, McGee started Race 2 ready to work his way forward. Shortly into the race, while under caution, the No. 10 AM team experienced a mechanical issue that they had to address on pit lane. The No. 10 AM finally returned back on track in hopes of collecting any available championship points to finish the weekend.

As the Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo have completed their stateside rounds of competition and will head to Misano, Italy, for the World Finals. The remaining two races to completed the North America championship are set for November 6-7, 2025, then all Lamborghini Super Trofeo series across the globe will come together for the World Finals on November 8-9, 2025.

Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo Driver Quotes

Danny Formal, No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “Well, first of all I want to thank Hampus. He didn't do many laps due to the caution, but he did really well. Obviously in the start, he did a fantastic job. It's very hard to start here. When you're down the inside, it's very dirty. He did a fantastic job there. The restart after that long yellow is never easy. Hampus had a great restart and he pulled a nice little gap. I got some good out laps, and I was able to maintain that lead that we had. So just so thankful to the team, we did minimal changes all weekend.?I'm talking about one little change all weekend. That's how good these cars are rolling out. We're going to Misano. I was there in 2021 and it's an amazing racetrack. So, we have a good baseline going there.?I’m excited to go fight for the championship.”

Hampus Ericsson, No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “Not a lot of laps today, but every lap council, of course, and same as yesterday. Wayne Taylor Racing gave us on absolute rocket ship again. Can't thank the team enough! It's just been a great weekend ?It feels so good to win again. Same as in Road America with two wins and two poles here in Indianapolis. It's an unbelievable feeling and I can't wait to fight for the championship in Italy as well. We'll see what happens, but confidence is high.”

Nick Persing, No. 8 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “Amazing results this weekend. I have to give a big thanks to Giano. He did an amazing job this weekend. If it wasn't for him, pulling some of the weight this weekend, we wouldn’t be here, so I have to give him massive props to him. Big thanks to the Wayne Taylor Racing team. We had an amazing car this weekend. I'm glad we were able to finish the races this weekend and to end up on the podium in both races. It is just phenomenal. Super excited and now it’s onto the World Finals.”

Giano Taurino, No. 8 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO: “Overall, the weekend was awesome. First off, it was a privilege and honor to work with such an amazing team. We started the weekend off pretty strong. I was very rusty but after the first practice session, we were feeling strong and the car had great pace. Qualifying went great with both Nick and I qualifying fourth. In Race 1, we got to third from fourth. Today, I had a bit of a rusty start, I was little bit nervous, so I wasn’t on it like I normally am. We finished third again today. I’m super grateful to be here with this team and I know they are going to get after it in the World Finals.”

Trent Hindman, No. 69 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO|AM: “Really fun weekend here at Indianapolis. There’s always the expectation when you have me and Jackson in the car that we want to be in the fight for the win and be one of the quicker cars on track. But to have the weekend go the way it went with very few hiccups and just a really, really great result for the team as a whole between the PRO and PRO|AM categories. It's awesome! So happy with it overall. Jackson's did a hell of a job once again this weekend, so it's really a pleasure to work with him and I'm learning just as much from him as he's learning hopefully from me. Just happy for the team and big thanks to Wayne Taylor Racing for giving us this good opportunity.”

Jackson Lee, No. 69 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO|AM: “I couldn't be happier with the results from this weekend. Getting two class wins, but as well as two overall podiums, I couldn't ask for a better weekend. Being able to learn from the team, to learn from Trent, to learn from everyone at Wayne Taylor Racing has been awesome, and I'm really seeing the progress from Road America to here. It's just been a wonderful experience. And again, to be able to do it in front of the team's hometown and my hometown, I know we've got a lot of guests, a lot of friends and family between both me and the team, so it just makes it all the much more special. So, big thanks to all my supporters and all the team and the team supporters.”

Graham Doyle, No. 10 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo AM: “This was a weekend that started on such high highs and just totally crushed our spirits and reminded us how racing is sometimes. Glenn and I led both practice sessions, qualified on pole. I started Race 1 and was taken out basically on the start. The car ended up not being able to finish the race. Today, Glenn had a mega run up through the field and was able to get the car up in the lead group, but the car had an issue that forced us to retire the car again. One of those tough weekends, but they make us better and we continue to grow and we will go fight for a championship in Italy.”

Glenn McGee, No. 10 WTR Lamborghini Super Trofeo AM: "It was great to come here with Wayne Taylor Racing at their home track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We came in strong. Right away the car felt so good. I think we proved that session with every WTR car we have and grabbed every pole we could in qualifying. We just had some bad luck for Graham and I in the No. 10. In Race 1, we had some contact that put out of that race. Race 2, it was the most amazing car I have ever driven in this series, but we had mechanical issue. There wasn’t anything we could do there. We tried to get some laps in and we retain the lead in the championship. We will take it to Misano and win it there.”
