2025 GTP LAGUNA SECA PRE RACE REPORT

The duo of V-Series.R GTPs for Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing return to the West Coast for the second consecutive California race of the 2025 schedule. The Monterey SportsCar Championship from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is the season’s second sprint race and the first of the traditional two-hour, 40-minute length format. Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing has a rich history at Laguna Seca with three wins and five additional podiums as well as six pole positions around the historic California road course.

No strangers to success at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca are Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque in the No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP. Taylor has won three times, two of those with co-driver Albuquerque, around the 2.238-mile road course. The shared victories between the No. 10 duo came from pole positions in the previous DPi era before GTP. To date so far in the 2025 IMSA season, the No. 10 Cadillac WTR team have tallied a best finish of fifth (Daytona) and look to take their momentum and learnings from their recent Laguna Seca test to earn a step on the podium come this weekend.

In the No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP, Jordan Taylor and Louis Delétraz are another pairing ridden with triumph at Laguna Seca. Taylor has one victory and an impressive five pole positions around the California circuit and Delétraz earned his very first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar victory at Laguna Seca competing in the LMP2 class in 2022. While their best finish together in the No. 40 came with a fourth-place finish last year, Taylor and Delétraz are eager to improve forward based on their experience and testing knowledge for a solid result at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

"Disappointment is an understatement for the start to this year,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner. “Given our partnership with Cadillac Racing, I know we are going to win races going forward. I have my utmost faith in Cadillac and the entire Wayne Taylor Racing team. We went and did a test at Laguna Seca and we think we have learned a couple of things and founds some things to try for the race. Our workload as a team has gone through the roof because we now go to Laguna while we are building our Le Mans car. Then we come back and go to Detroit and one day later fly to Le Mans for 10 days before flying straight to Watkins Glen for the Six Hour. So, everything is really a tall order, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The people we have got on this WTR team are doing an outstanding job. They have got a lot of motivation and passion. With our partners in Cadillac and GM, we hope to go to Laguna and be back on pace to be fighting for the lead. We will give it our best, do everything we can for Cadillac and make everyone proud that we are partners together."

The Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R GTP team will begin the weekend at Laguna Seca with practice on Friday, May 9, at 5:20 p.m. ET (2:20 p.m. PT). Saturday will see the field set with the 15-minute qualifying session on Peacock at 7:10 p.m. ET (4:10 p.m. PT). The Monterey SportsCar Championship sprint race will begin at 3:10 p.m. ET (12:10 p.m. PT) with the full two-hours, 40-minutes broadcast on NBC.

Ricky Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R:

“It is nice to be in the rhythm of the sprint races where we can focus on execution of each session and working more exclusively with our smaller group in the team. Laguna will give us another good opportunity to get in the rhythm of working together. Laguna is always challenging to put together an entire strong weekend. Track position is quite important there, it is quite difficult to pass, and strategy rarely seems to reward people with many positions, so it places a lot of emphasis on being well prepared and doing a good job on all of the little things.”

Filipe Albuquerque, full season co-driver, No. 10 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R:

“We are still in the process of learning the V-Series.R car and let’s hope that Laguna is the track that clicks with understanding the car and being competitive. Our heads are down, the crews will be working hard and hopefully no mistakes, and we will be aiming for a podium.”

Louis Delétraz, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R:

“As always, I’m very excited to go to Laguna Seca. I love the track and the atmosphere. I have some good memories after winning it in 2022 (LMP2) and hopefully we can reproduce that! We have been testing recently with the Cadillac V-Series.R and it felt great. The whole team is working hard, we’re learning a lot and we’re getting faster every time we drive. I’m looking forward to the race and very motivated to bring back our first trophy of the year.”

Jordan Taylor, full season co-driver, No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R:

“We had a good test in Laguna right after our Long Beach weekend. I think every time we are able to get track time, we are learning new things with the car. The V-Series.R car is still so new to us and most of our running is on race weekends when you don’t want to take too many risks. I think as the year goes on, we are going to keep getting stronger and stronger. It hasn’t been the start to the year that we wanted, so hopefully we can start contending for podiums and wins in Laguna. It’s a much different track than what we’ve seen this year, but it always brings a nice crowd and an action-packed race, so I’m looking forward to getting there.”
