2025 GTD SIX HOURS OF THE GLEN POST RACE REPORT

The demanding Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen proved to be a difficult one for the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 team after an early retirement. In only his second IMSA qualifying, IMSA Michelin Endurance cup co-driver Graham Doyle pushed to start the No. 45 GTD in 18th position at Watkins Glen International. The race started with a slight drizzle around The Glen, making the 11-turn circuit a slick terrain.

Doyle quickly took control of the race ahead of him, keeping a steady pace for the first half hour of his stint. Battling the tricky weather conditions on track with inconsistent rain, the No. 45 unfortunately made contact on track, ultimately ending their day early. The Wayne Taylor Racing No. 45 GTD was officially retired with four hours left on the clock.

“I am so sorry about what happened today to our GTD program,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner. “Graham had a big accident and that kind of hit can be a little scary. But he is strong, and he is fit. He had such a weekend with us. He won two races with our Lamborghini Super Trofeo program on Friday and Saturday and then he qualified the GTD car well, doing double duty this weekend. I am not exactly sure, but I believe he got to the rain earlier than everyone else today and the rain took over and there was really nothing he could do. I feel so badly for him, Danny, Trent and the WTR crew – they do such a good job and work so hard.”

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 team have their sights set forward, with all attention on gaining championship points during the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Motorsports Park on July 11-13, 2025.

Graham Doyle, IMEC co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “The rain caught us off guard, completely. We had been experiencing mixed weather - drizzling then dry. About 35 minutes into the race, we came into Turn 1, made it on the apex curb, completely dry, but as soon as I drove onto the big curbs, it was monsoon conditions and caught us off guard. The curb was completely flooded and then the car lost all traction as we were on slicks. Now, several cars have crashed, even under caution with the amount of rain we are getting here. We were just the first unlucky person to get caught out by it. We will come back stronger at the next event.”

Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “A difficult weekend, but always enjoyable to be around this place. I didn’t end up getting many laps over the weekend in practice, but every time I did a lap, the car felt fantastic. The guys did a great job: the crew, the mechanics, the sponsors, the team, everyone. I think we had a good car. Graham did an incredible first stint keeping up with everyone. Very unfortunate timing with the rain. As he was going into Turn 1, it just was a monsoon, and he lost the rear of the car. I am glad he is completely ok. The guys will go back to the shop and get the car ready for Canada in a couple of weeks.”

Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “First and foremost, Graham is ok. That is all that matters in these situations. Just a shame. Unfortunately, just another layer on top of what has been a challenging season so far. I hate it for the guys; I hate it for the WTR team. The only thing you can do is keep pressing forward and that is what we will do.”
