2025 GTD SEBRING 12 HOUR PRE RACE REPORT

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini HuracánGT3 EVO2 team head to Sebring International Raceway to challenge for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring this weekend. With a driver lineup featuring Danny Formal, Trent Hindman and Graham Doyle, the Wayne Taylor Racing GTD team are looking to capitalize on momentum and learnings from their recent test around the 17-turn road course.  For the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini stable, the team enters their sophomore race at the Twelve Hours of Sebring with confidence as they were poised for an impressive result at the season opener at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, challenging for the lead within the final hours of the endurance event, tallying a top 10 result.

As the trio are set to tackle the bumps and tarmac across the 3.74-mile circuit, the combined expertise of the drivers and WTR will be critical for finding success at Sebring. Hindman returns to Sebring on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship grid after last competing in 2023 where he earned the GTD class Pole Position and finished second. Formal and Doyle will be quite busy come this weekend as the pair will be completing “double duty” as they compete in IMSA along with balancing a doubleheader weekend with Lamborghini Super Trofeo in their respective classes Formal, No. 1 Lamborghini Super Trofeo PRO; Doyle, No. 10 Lamborghini Super Trofeo AM).

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Wayne Taylor Racing team will get to work for the 12-hour historic endurance event with three practice sessions on Thursday, March 13, followed up by qualifying at 11:25 a.m. ET on Friday, March 14. The field will see the clock countdown begin at 10:10 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 15, for the 73rd Running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring as Peacock will broadcast flag-to-flag coverage.

Wayne Taylor, Team Owner, Wayne Taylor Racing: “The No. 45 GTD car has gotten much more competitive, especially with three really good drivers. They were podium car at Daytona before a failure. It was really impressive what they did at Daytona and now after their test at Sebring, all three drivers have spent a lot of time in the car, helping each other. I really think that we have a chance at certainly being on the podium, maybe even winning it.”

Trent Hindman: “The opportunity to test and prepare, as a team, for the upcoming Twelve Hours of Sebring is absolutely critical for a variety of reasons. I think in years past, the talent of our team supporting us at Wayne Taylor Racing could show up to the race weekend and immediately be competitive, but now, much like Daytona, the introduction of torque sensors to GTD does change our approach to the car enough to where we needed every bit of that two-day test to experiment with different items. We owe a debt of gratitude to our WTR team for getting the car re-prepped and turned back around to Florida in such a short period of time between the Rolex 24 and this test at Sebring. The overarching thought in the immediate aftermath of the Rolex 24 was a strong sense of appreciation in how much potential there is with this DEX WTR team to achieve success this year. There was already a high level of confidence in how competitive we could be rolling into Daytona, and, despite the end result, I would say the belief in our capability is stronger than ever. This will sound very simple, but I believe as long as we continue doing the job we have been doing and stick to our processes, the level of performance will remain strong, and results will come along with it.”

Danny Formal: “The Twelve Hours of Sebring is here, and I cannot be more excited! This will be my third race at Sebring. We had a great test last month. We were working to get these new torque sensors all right and making everything to help the drivers and extracting all we can out of the No. 45 Lamborghini. I think we have improved the car a lot from last year. Trent, Graham and I are extremely excited for this race. It’s a 12-hour race where a lot of things can happen, probably crazier than Daytona. We are ready for it, ready for the challenge.”

Graham Doyle: “Looking ahead to the Twelve Hours of Sebring, myself and the WTR team alike feel like we are in a very strong position. The two-day test at Sebring was extremely valuable for us. Sebring is a track that presents quite a few unique challenges so getting extra time and laps in ahead of the race allows us to fine-tune our setup and gain confidence heading into the event. Coming off a strong performance at Daytona, we’re carrying a lot of confidence into Sebring. While we didn’t achieve a result like we would have wanted, the car and team displayed an ability to fight for the win. Sebring is a completely different challenge, but we’re looking to build on our momentum and put ourselves in a strong position to fight for a spot on the podium and hopefully the top step.”
