Returning back to endurance racing, the No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 team was eager to find success at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Graham Doyle, IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup co-driver, started the Battle on the Bricks six-hour event.
Starting in 18th of the GTD category, Doyle’s mission was to gain as many positions as possible and try to save fuel on his stint. With a mixture of attrition as well as passing on track, Doyle was able to work his way forward up to 11th before pitting. Doyle brought the silver chrome Lamborghini to pit lane and traded places to Danny Formal. In Doyle’s mandatory drive time, he made up seven positions over the course of his stint.
As Formal took over, the No. 45 GTD came alive for his stint. The full-season co-driver navigated through the GTD class with what became a rocket ship. Through the few yellows, Formal had worked his way up to third in class before it was time to come in for service and a driver change. With an incredible stint by Formal, Trent Hindman was able to pick up right where his teammate left off. As other GTD competitors needed to pit, Hindman ran a majority of his first stint of a double up on the top four of the class. Excellent work by the No. 45 crew allowed Hindman to maintain his track position heading into the final stint.
Just shy of one hour remaining, Hindman, who was running as the top Lamborghini GTD at the time, was prepared to pass off driving duties to Formal to finish the race. Unfortunately, the No. 45 stopped on track at pit entry and was unable to continue due to a mechanical issue. That mechanical issue ultimately ended the promising run for the team, resulting in a 14th-place finish.
“So disappointed for our No. 45 DEX Lamborghini GTD team,” Wayne Taylor, Team Owner. “What a year! We have come close to a podium finish three times this year, just to have our hopes dashed in the final hour. The drivers, the team, everyone were on point today. I am so disappointed for them. We will move forward, keep our head down and look forward to Petit Le Mans in a few weeks.”
One final event remains for the Wayne Taylor Racing GTD team, MOTUL Petit Le Mans, on October 8-11, 2025, to finish out the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “I would like to know what I did in another life, to be honest with you, to bring the bad luck upon this team that we have seen this year. It is just unbelievable; just unbelievable. Today, Graham executed a beautiful race. His fuel saving was outstanding. Danny, obviously, was super quick. I felt like we were really good there and in a great position through my two stints to hand the car back off to Danny for the end. I think, for sure, we had a podium car, but if not, definitely in the fight for the win. It is just gutting. Big thanks to the Wayne Taylor Racing team, DEX Imaging. Just not our day, but we will do our best to rebound for Atlanta.”
Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “What a race. Graham did a phenomenal stint and a half with great fuel savings. Probably saved us almost four laps of fuel. I got in at P11, and we had a rocket ship under us today and I was able to battle all the way to P3. Trent did phenomenal as well and kept us in the fight at P3. Awesome pace. I don’t know if we could have won, but we would have definitely been in the fight for the win. Just bad luck again. Super grateful for this Wayne Taylor Racing, DEX Imaging team. We never give up. After what happened at VIR and here we are fighting for P3 and possibly the top steps. You can’t say enough about this team. We will get it back together for Road Atlanta, our last race for the year. Our strongest race last year with a P5 there. Our spirits and hopes are still high. We are just going to keep working hard and hopefully get that result at Petit.”
Graham Doyle, IMEC co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Really disappointing. We had the car today. We were running basically in podium position all day. I got out of the car in P11 and then Danny and Trent did an awesome job. Danny drove the car up and then Trent held it. We were running P3, saving fuel, for a long time. We had the car. But this has kind of been the story all year. We will rebound from this and head to Petit. We have all the faith in the world in this WTR team.”
