2025 GTD Canadian Tire Motorsports Park Pre Race Report

The No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 team depart on their journey to Canada to tackle the only international event on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar. Wayne Taylor Racing’s Trent Hindman and Danny Formal will lead the charge in the No. 45 Lamborghini at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) as they begin a stretch of three consecutive sprint rounds.

On debut in 2024, Formal and the WTR No. 45 GTD team earned a top 10 starting and finishing position while also leading a total of 11 laps around CTMP. 2025 will mark Hindman’s return to CTMP since 2023, but the American driver holds a best finish of second (2019) around the 2.459-mile road course.

“I’m excited to see how our GTD program does this weekend in Mosport with it only being a GTD event,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner. “I have a lot of confidence in Danny and Trent as they are both very talented drivers, and I know our WTR team is set up for success. This weekend marks a mid-season reset for them after some tough luck to start the year and based off last year’s results, I have faith they will be contending for a podium, if not a win.”

Preparations for the Wayne Taylor Racing No. 45 Lamborghini GTD team begins on Friday, July 11, with practice at 1:55 p.m. ET. On Saturday, July 12, the day will start with practice at 10:35 a.m. ET followed by qualifying at 4:00 p.m. ET that afternoon. The traditional two-hour, 40-minute sprint race, the Chevrolet Grand Prix, will go green on Sunday, July 13, at 2:05 p.m. ET on USA Network and Peacock.

Trent Hindman, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “The silver lining to our year, especially following a very unexpected and difficult outcome at Watkins Glen, is the fact that we have the opportunity to start new and reshape the story of our season in these next five races. The No. 45 DEX Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini GTD was consistently quick in the second half of 2024, so we know the capability is there between car, team, and drivers. We have showed signs of promise at times this year, but between items both in and out of our control, coupled with some downright rotten luck, has done nothing but motivate us to continue keeping our heads down and pushing forward. It’s the only option we have. Mosport (CTMP) is a racetrack where I am very fortunate to have quite a lot of laps around, and Danny proved to perform well in the closing two stints last year. We’ve got a great team behind us and a well sorted race car underneath us - we’re prepared to take full advantage of the opportunity we have in front of us.

Danny Formal, full season co-driver, No. 45 DEX Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “Our third sprint round of the year: CTMP. What a track! A high risk, high reward racetrack. We had a top six finish there last year. We didn’t have the greatest pace, but the WTR team executed pit stops and strategy incredibly. We are going there this year way more prepared than we did before. Looking forward to this race. Our sister teams in Lamborghini have been testing there, so hopefully we get some data that will help from them on starting setups, but our team has a plan going forward. I’m extremely excited to get to Canada. This is my third sprint race with Trent, and he has a very good experiences at CTMP and I’m excited to learn some of his tricks he has there. I’m super excited for this race and grateful to Wayne Taylor Racing, DEX Imaging, Lamborghini and everyone else behind this program. Hopefully we can give them the podium result they deserve.”
