The Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti (WTRAndretti) GTD team is set to start from seventh for Battle on the Bricks after an impressive qualifying performance from Danny Formal. Formal took on the crowded GTD field around the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, working through traffic to extract the most from the No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2. The team’s seventh position will see the black-and-red crew starting from the front half of the 22-car GTD field.
The No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 team will take on the penultimate round of the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on Sunday, September 22 as Danny Formal, Kyle Marcelli and Graham Doyle will look for a positive result in the six-hour event. Danny Formal, No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2: “GTD qualifying is over and we got seventh. It was a scrappy session on my end. There were large amounts of traffic, and we had difficulty avoiding contact causing us to lose some time. I don’t think that would’ve changed our position as there was a larger gap up front, but the rest of the field was really close. I’m really grateful for the team for letting me qualify. It was my third qualifying of the season. Again, not where we wanted to be after this morning, but we’re competitive. The WTRAndretti team has done a great job and the No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán will be ready for battle tomorrow for the six-hour race. Graham and Kyle did great in practice, so we’re hoping for an aggressive start to get us some positions in the start then push all we have in the last few hours. We’re hopeful for some rain, as our car has been quite good in the rain, and hopefully that will help us with some track position.”
