2022 Laguna Seca Qualifying Report

No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 driver Ricky Taylor was the class of the field at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this afternoon, scoring pole position for tomorrow’s Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship Presented by MOTUL. Taylor finished the session with a time of 1:13.924 at 108.987 mph, setting a new track record for the DPi class at the prestigious Northern California circuit.

Taylor will start the two-hour and 40-minute sprint from the inside of the front row, which will give him the advantage on the run down to Laguna Seca’s challenging Turn 2 braking zone. Full-time teammate Filipe Albuquerque will climb aboard for the second stint and take the blue and black Konica Minolta machine to the finish.

“I’m very happy with pole,” said Ricky Taylor. “But the margin is so small we can’t relax on performance. We have to keep working for tomorrow. It’s going to be a very different story in a race situation. The team’s been executing well and this track always suits the Acura ARX-05, but tomorrow, we’ll have to keep working to keep the pressure on our competitors. Throughout the weekend, they’ve been closing the gap. We need to make sure we can maintain this.”

Green flag for the Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship Presented by MOTUL will wave at 12:10 p.m. PT tomorrow, Sunday, May 1st with full coverage streaming on Peacock and network coverage live on NBC.
