The Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing stable finished Rounds five and six of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Season with strong performances by Randy Sellari and Ashton Harrison. Sellari showed consistency throughout the weekend in the No. 03 JG Wentworth with Wayne Taylor Racing LST, advancing from his qualifying position in both rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship at Watkins Glen International. He led the team with a fourth-place result in the AM class on Friday. Ashton Harrison, piloting the No. 25 Harrison Contracting with Wayne Taylor Racing car, incurred a drive-through penalty in Race 1, but drove flawlessly on Saturday for Race 2 to secure a fourth place AM finish of her own.
Misfortune struck early on Friday when Kyle Marcelli when WTR’s PRO entry sustained heavy damage during an on-track incident during Race #1. As a result, the No 1 Prestige Performance entry was also unable to start Saturday’s second race of the weekend.
Rounds 7 & 8 of the North America Lambroghini Super Trofeo Series take place August 6th-8th at Road America.
Kyle Marcelli, No. 1 Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo (PRO)
“High expectations coming into Watkins Glen, I love this circuit. We struggled a bit with qualifying pace. We went back to the drawing board and made some changes to the car and in Race 1 our pace was fantastic. We were the fastest car on track in the first 18 minutes of the race. Purple sectors were being set everywhere and then we had an incident in Turn 2—out of our control. It’s still under investigation as to what went wrong. Heartbreaking and looking forward to Road America.”
Daniel Formal, No. 1 Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo (PRO)
“Not the weekend we were looking for. A total of 11 laps on the weekend for me. Unfortunately, there was an incident yesterday in Race 1 where I didn’t get to race. Kyle is okay, he’s safe. The team’s gonna work hard in this month and a half we have off before the next round at Road America to get the car perfect and ready. Super thankful for WTR, to everyone here helping. They really are something else. They’re amazing and they worked super hard for us this weekend. I’m just sad I couldn’t give them the result we wanted. But super excited, thank you to everyone, and see you in a month!”
Ashton Harrison, No. 25 Harrison Contracting with Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo (AM)
“The main thing on my mind after today is Road America. The results weren’t what we were hoping for this weekend, but we gathered a lot of information and learnings as we head into the next race. Onward!”
