2021 IMSA WeatherTech 240 Qualifying Report

The No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 will start from pole for the IMSA WeatherTech 240 at the Glen. On a tricky, drying surface, Ricky Taylor put the Acura at the sharp end of the grid for the second time in less than a week. Today’s triumph marks Taylor’s 13th WeatherTech SportsCar Championship pole, making him the most prolific qualifier in the competition’s history.

Full-time teammate Filipe Albuquerque will join Taylor in the cockpit for the two-hour, 40-minute sprint around the 3.40-mile, 11-turn Watkins Glen International circuit. With a current total of 1,768 points, the No. 10 Konica Minolta team will look to extend their championship lead in the race.

“Really nice to be back on the pole at Watkins Glen. Our No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 was super strong again,” said Ricky Taylor. “It’s so nice to have five days in between rounds to work on what you need to improve. The team did a great job. Obviously, everybody’s improving, but we have to stay ahead of the pack. Tomorrow’s the big day. We’ve got two-hours and 40-minutes of racing and we think we have made good changes from last week. Hopefully, come tomorrow night, we’re as happy as we are now.”
