Date: Oct. 6, 2017
Event: 20th annual Petit Le Mans (Round 10 of 10)
Series: Prototype division of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship
Location: Road Atlanta (2.54-mile, 12-turn road course)
Result: 7th by Ricky Taylor (1:12.121 at 127.116 mph)

The No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R will start Saturday’s 20th annual Petit Le Mans from the inside of the fourth row after IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship qualifying Friday at Road Atlanta.

Ricky Taylor, who with younger brother Jordan Taylor can clinch the 2017 driver and team championships simply by taking the green flag to start Saturday’s season-ending 10-hour endurance marathon, turned a fast lap of 1 minute, 12.121 seconds at 127.116 mph around the 2.54-mile, 12-turn road course. It was good for seventh in the field of 39 car-and-driver combinations entered in Saturday’s race.

“It’s disappointing to know that we have that big of a deficit to the cars that are fast here this weekend,” said Ricky Taylor, who with his younger brother is also joined in the cockpit this weekend by IndyCar regular Ryan Hunter-Reay. “I think it just shows that when you get teams like Penske and Rebellion running these cars, it shows what they are capable of on the track. I think you can see by the results that the Cadillac DPi-V.R cars have been really tuned back. But it’s a long race and we can rely on the reliability of the Cadillac and look to our incredible pit stops from the Konica Minolta Cadillac guys and make-up positions with racecraft and by not giving up.”

The top-five qualifiers for Saturday’s Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta are:

1. Team Penske (No. 6 Oreca LMP2) with Helio Castroneves, Juan Montoya, Simon Pagenaud (1:11.314 at 128.221 mph)

2. Extreme Speed Motorsports (No. 22 Nissan DPi) with Luis Derani, Bruno Senna, Johannes Van Overbeek (1:11.475 at 127.932 mph)

3. Extreme Speed Motorsports (No. 2 Nissan DPi) with Brendan Hartley, Scott Sharp, Ryan Dalziel (1:11.499 at 127.889 mph)

4. Rebellion Racing (No. 13 Oreca LMP2) with Mathias Beche, Nick Heidfeld, Gustavo Menezes (1:11.623 at 127.668 mph)
