Date: May 5, 2017
Event: Advance Auto Parts Sports Car Showdown (Round 4 of 10)
Series: Prototype division of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship
Location: Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas (3.4-mile, 20-turn road course)
Pole Winner: Ricky Taylor of the Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R (1:54.809 at 106.6 mph – track record)

The No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R will start Saturday’s Advance Auto Parts Sports Car Showcase from the pole for the second race in a row and for the second year in a row at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas after IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship qualifying Friday afternoon.

Ricky Taylor, who with his younger brother Jordan Taylor is looking to make it a perfect 4-for-4 this weekend after sweeping the season’s opening three events, drove a track-record fast lap of 1 minute, 54.809 seconds at 106.6 mph around the 3.4-mile, 20-turn home of the Formula One United States Grand Prix. It was his 15th career major North American sportscar-car racing pole and the 25th in team history. He’ll lead the 40 car-and-driver combinations to the green flag Saturday for the two-hour, 40-minute race.

“Obviously, the qualifying times make it look like we’re dominant, but we made some big compromises for qualifying, so I think the race is going to be really tough tomorrow,” said Ricky Taylor, who with his brother scored their first career wins at this season’s Rolex 24 At Daytona and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring endurance events, and their third consecutive win – from the pole – at the Bubba Burger Grand Prix on the streets of Long Beach, California. “We could see in the speed trap data that we gave up some top speed to go for overall lap time. Tomorrow, it’s going to be all about preserving tires and raceability. We’ll have to really do some work tonight, still, to make sure we have a good, solid racecar.”

The top-five qualifiers for Saturday’s Advance Auto Parts Sports Car Showcase are:
